Internationally Sheraton Hotels have earned well deserved reputation for superior standards and exemplary service. So when it came time to upgrade the Fiji property’s in-room entertainment system, understandably the consulting engineers demanded the very best equipment available.

K CabinetProfessional Electronics Ltd (PEL) of Suva was selected to design, install and commission a 17 Channel SMATV/MATV reticulation & distribution system, incorporating terrestrial free to air TV, satellite channels along with in-house movies and guest information services.

Isaac Fong, PEL’s CEO and Director of Engineering stated: “When Professional Electronics was engaged to design the Sheraton SMATV/MATV upgrade, I based my design around the KPS product thus ensuring we could meet the strict performance criteria specified in the contract. Furthermore, being a modular system, with a web based remote access option; we have an ultra reliable and scalable product that provides the customer with a total solution for both today and for their future needs.”

The Sheraton Villa system uses a combination of Kingray Professional Series VSB Modulators, Channel Processors and Launch Amplifiers to provide service to 185 rooms and public areas.

A major challenge for the installation team was that the hotel would remain open throughout the system upgrade with a guaranteed TV service remaining in place.

Under the guidance of commissioning engineer Clinton Fong, electronics technicians Setareki Vakayadra, Timothy Brown and Samuella Namaralevu completed the installation and switch over without problem on April 28 with only a 5 minute break in service

Professional Electronics Ltd is a family owned business that has gained a reputation for the provision of quality service for over 30 years throughout the South Pacific region.
