GME INTRODUCES THE BEST EPIRB AVAILABLE

The new MT603G water-activated, GPS-equipped EPIRB from GME can be relied upon to ensure the safety of vessels in emergency situations.

Because it is GPS-enabled, the MT603G provides critical advantages as compared to traditional a non-GPS-beacon.

The first of these is speed. EPIRBS rely on satellite technology to pinpoint the location of distressed vessels or individuals. EPIRBs that are not GPS-enabled have to wait for the satellite that detects them to pass twice over their location before it can confirm an accurate position. Therefore, they take anywhere between 90 minutes and five hours to provide an accurate position.

GPS-enabled emergency beacons like the MT603G, in contrast, do not require the satellite to pass over them twice. They can pinpoint the location of the distress call in a maximum of just 20 minutes.

Secondly, because it is GPS-enabled, the MT603G is significantly more accurate than traditional non-GPS beacons. While non-GPS beacons offer accuracy within 5km, the MT603G EPIRB is accurate within a radius of just 100m.

The stakes are high when considering EPIRBs. For vessels lost at sea, these types of variations in time and accuracy can literally mean the difference between life and death. It makes sense to choose the superior product.

The latest in GME’s range, the MT603G 406Mhz GPS EPIRB (Class 2) boasts several industry-leading features, including zero warm up technology and a 6 year battery life. Combined with 66 channel GPS receiver, these position it as the best EPIRB available today.

COSPAS Certified, MEOSAR-ready

The satellites used for the detection of EPIRBs are monitored by the Cospas-Sarsat Programme, a treaty-based, consortium of international rescue services. The MT603G is Cospas-Sarsat certified for worldwide operation and MEOSAR-ready.

Water activation

Where sea conditions permit, the deployment of EPIRBs in the water, away from the vessel, allows for the strongest transmission and therefore the best chance of detection.

The MT603G EPIRB can either be activated manually or automatically upon contact with water. To do this, the user removes the device from its mounting bracket and immerses it in the water. It beeps once and the strobe flashes. Then after seven seconds, the flashing strobe and beeps continue every three seconds, to indicate operation.

Reliable operation

Further features, such as high-intensity strobe, 48-hour minimum operating time and the device’s 6 year warranty ensures the MT603G remains in operational condition, ready for deployment wherever and whenever an emergency arises.

Its high-intensity, solid state strobe light and auxiliary 121.5MHz VHF homing transmitter, optimise the EPIRB’s performance. These features maximise the chances of detection and help make the job of the rescue team as easy as possible.

Like all EPIRBs available from GME, the MT603G allows authorities to contact the distressed individuals’ next-of-kin in the case of an emergency. Apart from precise latitude/longitude, the MT603G also transmits the identification information of the vessel deploying it. This allows the relevant authorities to contact next of kin of the person who registered it.

The benefits of this are two-fold. It allows the authorities to quickly alert the family to the situation and, importantly, allows them to provide additional information, such as medical histories or anything else that could help with the rescue effort.

The MT603G boasts a six-year battery life and comes with a six-year Warranty and can be relied upon to do the job if and when you find yourself in a maritime emergency.

At sea, in the event of an emergency, you literally need to be able to rely on your equipment to save the lives of you and your crew. You need to be equipped with an EPIRB like the MT603G, which you can rely on to alert authorities in the shortest time and with the greatest precision. The stakes are too high to accept anything less.

The MT603G EPIRB is available from GME, a designer and manufacturer of world-class radio communication equipment. Contact GME now for more information about their broad range of emergency beacons, including the best PLBs and EPIRBs available.
